PRESENT SIMPLE

USE:
  • General descriptions: Water boils at 100 ºC
  • Habits: He studies maths on Fridays.
  • Opinions: He likes dogs.
  • Timetables: The train to Oviedo leaves at 10 o'clock.

FORM: Subject + Verb in bare infinitve + complements
+ I eat pasta every week.
- I don't eat pasta every week
? Do you eat pasta every week.

IMPORTANT: 3rd person singular carries -s
+ He eats pasta
- He doesn't eat pasta (Notice that the -s is added to "do"
? Does he eat pasta?

MARKERS
Adverbs of frequency: often, usually, never, rarely...
Temporal expressions: everyday, every week, twice a week...



PRESENT CONTINUOUS







USE:
  • What is happening now: I amstudying English.
  • Arranged plans in the future: I'm going skiing tomorrow.

FORM: Subject + verb "to be" + Verb -ing+ complements
+ I am eating pasta
- I am not eating pasta
? Is he eating pasta?
